Origin of CtB Massage

The Closing the Bones massage that you will be given has its roots form Ecuador. The Robozos that are used are from Mexico and are used as a loving extension of the hands and heart of the one giving the massage as well as the rich history and ancestral love and healing of the families that have woven the robozo. The material is strong and robust allowing strength in the hold and a sense of security and feeling of being safe in the held space. In Ecuador it is common practice for a women to be given this massage within hours of giving birth and at least 5 or 6 times within the first 40 days. The hips in pregnancy open up and the Robozo bone closing work is essential to help close them back again. This can be done even years later but most beneficial within the first 40 days postpartum.

Many cultures have a tradition of using some kind of material and specific massage techniques to hold you and bring you back to the energy centre In the western world it is becoming seen again and it is still well practiced in European Countries and further afield.

There are many south Asian traditions stemming from India too where specific material was always used to help wrap the stomach of a new mum to aid the contracting of the uterus. The massage would also help stimulate blood flow which in turn would help with stimulating milk supply and the immune system.
